Urban Exploration is the study of places that are abandoned, disused, or off limits to everyday people. It is all about seeing beauty in places other people may see as an eyesore. Some do it for the thrill, others for the pictures, personally I do it for both. 'Flyboy' is my online alias. Explorers which are a part of the growing online urbex community use these aliases to protect their identities. Any time I visit a new location I take pictures, and I will post my favourites from each explore here.

A few weeks ago I visited Richborough Power Station near Ramsgate. It has been largely disused for years, the only active part of the site being an electricity sub-station. Recently the active facility on site has been converted to receive the power from the offshore wind farm.
On site there are three cooling towers and one chimney. There are also two large workshop areas with a few smaller buildings around the cooling towers. The turbine hall has been partly demolished and is now just a steel frame.
This was a nice place to visit alone, it is peaceful and usually there is no patrolling security so you can just wander around unhindered.
